There
are several components of the IT infrastructure required to run and support
the Centricity Practice Solutions applications for Practice Management
(PM) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Whether
you are implementing a PM and EMR solution for the first time or migrating
from an earlier generation PM and/or EMR solution, the decision to implement
GE Centricity CPS will likely mark the beginning of a paradigm shift in
your organization as it relates to IT. It will be more important than
ever before that you implement the right IT solutions and receive the
best IT support since the day-to-day operations of your practice will
be dependent on the Centricity application and the IT infrastructure to
run and support the application.
There
are two main IT infrastructure components your practice needs to address.
The first component to be considered is the server infrastructure required
by the application. There are two options – acquiring and implementing
a premise based solution along with on-going support and management, or
using a managed hosting solution – both of which RCS can provide.
Regardless
of which server solution you choose, the next IT component to address
is your local area network (LAN) including Internet and remote connectivity.
Your network provides access to the servers and the application and thus
is a critical component.
This
brings us to the next component which is the computers and their users
who connect to the network to access the servers and the application.
And finally, as your practice begins to successfully use your new CPS
application, you will be generating electronic data that must be backed
up securely. Our comprehensive solution programs address each component,
and each component’s solutions are HIPAA compliant.
